The popular Yoruba actor, Alfred Rotimi Popoola, is dead.
Popoola, known as “Ilu Venture”, reportedly died yesterday at his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State, after a brief illness.
The death of the actor was confirmed by the Abeokuta Chapter of the Association of Practitioners of Arts and Cinema of Nigeria, TAMPAN.
A statement Thursday confirming his death, projects announced by the family of the actor to bury him immediately; according to his wishes.
The statement reads as follows: “We are saddened to announce the premature death of our dear colleague, the Honorable Alfred Rotimi Popoola, aka Ilu Venture, after letter of illness yesterday, February 27, 2019.
A brief memorial service will be held at St. Jude’s Cathedral, at the Iberekodo Church, in Abeokuta.
The morgue of Lantoro before 10am where we will go to the church.
“May his soul rest in peace! Ilo oooo digba ooo se,” said the terse statement.
The death of Rotimi comes just 24 days after the death of another colleague from the Yoruba arm of Nollywood, Funmilayo Ogunsola, aka Ijewuru, who died in early February.
